Finding Strength in Recovery: A Reflection on 2 Chronicles 15:4-7

Recovery is a journey—one filled with challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But in the midst of struggle, we are reminded of an important truth: when we seek God, we find strength, renewal, and hope.

In 2 Chronicles 15:4-7, we see a time of great turmoil. Nations were in distress, people faced hardships, and uncertainty ruled the land. Yet, the passage offers a powerful message:

"But in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, and he was found by them." (2 Chronicles 15:4, NIV)

This verse speaks directly to the recovery process. Whether recovering from addiction, illness, loss, or personal struggles, we all experience moments of distress. It is in those moments that we have a choice—do we give in to despair, or do we seek God for strength?

The passage continues, describing a world in crisis, yet it closes with a promise:

"But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded." (2 Chronicles 15:7, NIV)

These words serve as encouragement for anyone walking the road to recovery. Healing takes time. Change is difficult. But perseverance brings renewal. When we trust in God and remain steadfast, we find the strength to keep going.

Recovery is not just about overcoming the past—it’s about moving forward with faith, knowing that God is with us in every step. No matter how dark the journey may seem, hope is always on the horizon.

If you’re struggling, take heart—your work is not in vain. Keep pressing forward, seek God, and embrace the promise of a new beginning.
